“What Do You Want To Do When You Lose Something?”

From a very young age we are programmed to find the things that we lose.  Did you ever go into school and tell your teacher that you lost your homework only to be told that it doesn’t matter.  No you were probably told that you had better find it or face detention.   When was the last time you lost your purse or your keys and you told yourself that it does not matter.  The answer to that is probably never because we are programmed to find the things that we lose. One of the reasons for this is because generally there is a negative consequence that goes with the fact that we lost something.

Losing Something = Negative Consequence

As humans we will always try to avoid those things which will either bring us pain or suffering.  That’s why when you lose your purse you do not say it doesn’t matter because somebody could take your credit cards which equals negative consequences.  Now if we are programmed to find the things which we lose in order to avoid negative consequences then why should we expect something different when we try to lose weight.

Weight Loss = Negative Consequence

Do you really want to be sending the message to your unconscious mind that something negative may happen because you are losing weight?  Doing this will only ensure the unconscious mind finds the weight you lose in order to avoid negative consequences.  Or in some cases make it more difficult for you to lose some weight in the future.

It is very important when you want to reach a weight goal that you use the correct terminology.  Some of the correct terminology that you should be using when you are attempting to reach a weight goal is listed below.
